ABOUT BIGBY
Bradford-born Bigby has spent over 15 years championing independent radio, underground music and the grassroots communities that keep the scene alive. A DJ, broadcaster and experienced radio station founder, his journey began in 2010 with a slot on a small internet radio station, eventually leading to his first local DAB show at just 17 years old. Since then, he's built a successful career in radio development, founding his own stations and professionally developing broadcasting platforms for others, some of which have grown into major operations still running on his infrastructure today. Among his proudest achievements was founding GFM, an independent station championing Scottish grassroots artists that achieved significant success during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through its GFMTV platform, Bigby interviewed major figures from music, entertainment and sport, including legendary music industry figure Alan McGee, cementing his belief that independent voices deserve to be heard.
Alongside his broadcasting career, Bigby's passion for Northern Bassline and underground dance music took him from behind the microphone to behind the decks. What began with a friend's invitation to play a local club night led to residencies across West Yorkshire, sharing line-ups with respected names in the scene. But for Bigby, it's always been about more than playing music. His passion lies in preserving underground culture, supporting emerging artists and creating opportunities for grassroots talent. That same vision led to the creation of BassLab Radio, an independent station built on years of broadcasting experience, technical expertise and a genuine love for the underground. His mission remains unchanged since 2010: champion the music, support the talent and give the underground a place to call home.
